Important Health Update

In an effort to protect patients and staff, UVA Culpeper Hospital is asking visitors experiencing any flu-like symptoms to refrain from visiting our campus. Because of the high number of flu-related illnesses in the area, we are recommending visitors be limited to immediate family members or caregivers. Beginning 12/31/14, visitors entering our Family Birth Center, Step-down (Pediatric areas), and Intensive Care Units will be screened for symptoms of illness. Those with symptoms are asked not to visit. Children are encouraged not to visit regardless of their health. Our Family Birth Center will manage visitation on a case by case basis.

Symptom screening includes visible or complaints of: chills, muscle aches and pains, headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, cough, runny nose. This is not a conclusive list. Those with visible symptoms should be asked to leave. Everyone is expected to comply with infection control procedures to include masking, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette (cough into sleeves or tissues).
